Youth Basketball
Welcome to the Littleton Parks and Recreation youth basketball programs page!
Please read the information below regarding the specifics of both our in-house and travel basketball teams.
In-House Basketball:
The goal of in-house basketball is for participants to practice and advance on the fundamental skills required to play the game of basketball.
Grades K-2:
As a beginner basketball player, our in-house league is the perfect opportunity for younger players to get their feet wet with some basic skills and drills. The K-2 practices are designed to learn the basics of handling a basketball and learning how to play with other team mates on the court.
Schedule Information:
Saturday mornings 9:00-10:30 (two 45-minute practices)
Due to lower numbers for the K group, generally the K-1 groups combine for a 9:00am-9:45am practice, followed by a 2nd grade practice from 9:45am-10:30am.
[Please note: all of this is subject to change once final numbers are received for registrants and coaches are assigned their practice times. More specific information will be released before the start of the season]
Grades 3-6:
The competition level is vastly different during the in-house season compared to the travel team. Our in-house teams focus more on practice and skills and drills, as opposed to playing competitive games. This philosophy encourages participants to focus on their pre-existing skills and develop more skills to utilize in future in-house seasons, or during the travel team season.
[Please note: we require participants who are interested in playing travel team, to play in-house as well. The in-house season is designed to build player's skills for the competition encountered during their travel team season.]
Schedule Information:
The teams usually split into two-four teams per age group: 3/4 girls & boys and 5/6 girls & boys. The specific number of teams is dependent on the number of registrants. Theoretically, if there are enough registrants to have a 3/4 girls and boys team, as well as a 5/6 girls and boys team, each team will practice 2-3 nights per week. Historically Parks and Recreation has alternated the number of practices a week between 3/4 and 5/6 to ensure each group is given the opportunity for equal practice times. A specific schedule will be produced by Parks and Recreation prior to the start date of the season.
[Please note: Parks and Recreation is in charge of facilitating the gym times with the school, but whether a coach utilizes their practice time or chooses to cancel, is up to the coach.]
Travel Team Basketball:
(Grades 3-6)
The goal of the travel team is for participants to utilize the skills they learned during the in-house season in a more competitive season. The travel team season is a larger commitment compared to in-house and does require the athletes to travel at least two weekends a month, not including some away games that may happen during the week. If your athlete is signed up for travel, Parks and Recreation strongly encourages families to fully commit to the season and all of the necessary travel requirements.

5:30PM: In-Person Registration @ Lakeway Cafe (Not Required)
October 24, 2024:
5:30PM: In-Person Coaches Meeting @ Lakeway Cafe (Mandatory for coaches)
November 1, 2024:
In-house registration modified: registrations after this date do not guarantee a t-shirt
